Paving Your Way to High School
Designed for students transitioning from middle school to high school
Objectives:
- Exploring student concerns as they move into high school
- Finding the meaning in education beyond just ‘getting good grades’
- Creating a winner’s mindset and habits (time management, building good study methods)
- Building autonomy and self-confidence
- The benefits of active participation in class for learning and getting good grades
Format and Timing:
This consists of 3 separate days of workshops:
- one at the end of middle school to plant the seeds for a great beginning
- one towards the end of September after starting high school to deal with the challenges and reinforce learning skills
- one comes directly after the 1st grading period (Conseil de class) to evaluate learning, deal with difficulties and anchor effective behaviors.
